New guidance on menopause in the workplace published by the EHRC
In February 2024, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) published new guidance for employers on Menopause in the Workplace.
The guidance will help employers identify their responsibilities for supporting menopausal and perimenopausal workers, as well as provide an overview of menopause, the key symptoms, how this can present in the workplace, and the legal requirements of employers.
The EHRC has also developed a series of explainer videos, aimed at presenting legal requirements for employers, as well as top tips for workers experiencing menopause. This includes:
- Menopause and the Equality Act 2010.
- Making workplace adjustments and preventing discrimination.
- Conversations about the menopause.
Read the full EHRC guidance and view the explainer videos.
Case studies by the University of Greenwich provide more clarity on how this guidance works in practice.
And there are also plenty of menopause websites offering workplace guidance for workers and employers, such as Menopause Support, Women’s Health Concern and Henpicked.
