The Vento Bands have undergone their annual update for discrimination claims brought to employment tribunal either on or after the 6th April 2025.
The Vento Bands are guidelines that are used to work out the amount of compensation to be awarded for successful “injury to feelings” and psychiatric injury in discrimination and whistleblowing claims.
The increased rates for this year are as follows:
- The lower band, which applies to less serious cases, is now £1,200 – £12,100;
- The middle band, which is for cases that do not fall into the upper band, is now £12,100 – £36,400; and
- The upper band, which applies to the most serious cases, is now £36,400 – £60,700.
However, there may be exceptional cases in which awards exceeding the upper band limit of £60,700 would be granted.
