As the cases of covid continue to rise and the media warns of increased hospitalisation in the winter months, the Government is muting its “Plan B” strategy to tackle the increasing risks.
The current “Plan A” strategy focuses on testing and vaccination to help prevent the NHS from becoming overstretched.
Plan B however would see the reintroduction of face coverings in some settings, vaccination certificates and potentially requests for people to work from home once again if they can.
Many believe that it is only a matter of time before Plan B is put into action as the NHS and senior scientists both warn of significant risks and pressures if speedy action isn’t taken.
Currently, the Government maintain that they are not thinking about Plan B but we all know that the covid landscape is fast-moving and employers should be preparing for the “work from home” advice that is surely going to happen in the next few weeks.
For those who are unable to work from home, additional measures should be taken to ensure safety and compliance with government guidelines which may well involve the wearing of face coverings at work and a renewed focus on sanitisation and social distancing.
